The initial idea for TheDropp came to Kevin Bohren in the spring of 2015 when a casual conversation with friends triggered an ingenious idea for a new app that could solve a common challenge among small business owners: how to fill last-minute vacant seats. When reservations look lean, the business owners prayed for the phone to ring or for last-minute customers to walk through the door, they explained.
“I’m all for praying but I don’t think it’s a great business strategy,” said Kevin, who decided to create an app that would allow merchants to push out to spontaneous customers excited by the opportunity to try something new.
“The goal is to equip and empower merchants by connecting them with consumers who would love a chance to try that fantastic restaurant or take their family zip lining, but haven’t been able to afford it. It’s not just about the savings, but about the experience as well,” Kevin said.
