Raised on the Jersey Shore, Rich Staats’ entrepreneurial spirit appeared early. In elementary school he traded beaded necklaces for lunch tickets and by high school he was hustling graphic T-shirts to his classmates.
Today, Rich’s entrepreneurial passion is focused on marketing and technology, and he feels most comfortable when serving as a liaison between the two worlds. Rich didn’t study computer science in college but instead is largely self-taught; a product of the open-source community. At TheDropp, Rich focuses on technical marketing, business automation and content strategy.
Prior to TheDropp, Rich co-founded Signature Colorado, a marketplace that creates commemorative products that capture the experiential beauty of Colorado. He also founded Secret Stache Media, a boutique consultancy that focuses on web strategy and digital marketing.
Community driven philanthropy is also an important part of Rich’s life. He spent four years running a co-ed rail jam called Love for the Ladies, which raised nearly $50,000 for the Vail Breast Cancer Awareness Group. This event helped local women get both treatment and “easement” — in the form of spa days or other stress-relieving experiences — for their disease.
